Puzzles for time off: a birthday party, a weekend camping, a day at the beach or out fishing, board games from Monopoly to Scrabble, hobbies from knitting to gardening, Lego, the circus, and the roller coasters of the big theme parks.
Lego took its name from the Danish leg godt, play well, years before the plastic brick existed; the company made wooden toys first. Monopoly grew out of The Landlord's Game, which Lizzie Magie patented in 1904 to show how rent made landowners rich; Parker Brothers bought her patent in the 1930s. The circus ring is older still. Philip Astley, who staged trick riding in London from 1768, settled on a ring about 42 feet across, the width that suits a horse cantering in a circle, and circus rings have kept roughly that size ever since.

Every puzzle prints in three levels: easy hides 5 words in a 10 by 10 grid, reading only across and down; medium hides 15 in a 12 by 12 grid; hard hides up to 23 in a 15 by 15 grid. Each print is a fresh draw from the topic's word list, and every sheet comes with an answer key. The same puzzles play online, on your own or against a friend in real time.
