Puzzles for the science of living things, from the parts of a single cell to whole ecosystems: review sets for biology and life science, then cells, cell division and macromolecules, genetics and evolution, photosynthesis and plants, bacteria and viruses, invertebrates and animal adaptations, and the bigger picture of ecosystems, food chains, biomes and invasive species.
The word cell comes from Robert Hooke, who looked at a thin slice of cork through his microscope in 1665 and saw rows of small empty boxes that reminded him of the rooms monks lived in. He was seeing the walls of dead plant cells; the living contents had long gone.

Every puzzle prints in three levels: easy hides 5 words in a 10 by 10 grid, reading only across and down; medium hides 15 in a 12 by 12 grid; hard hides up to 23 in a 15 by 15 grid. Each print is a fresh draw from the topic's word list, and every sheet comes with an answer key. The same puzzles play online, on your own or against a friend in real time.
