Resurrection Word Search
This Resurrection word search holds the forty days from Easter morning to the Ascension: the empty tomb and the stone rolled away, Mary Magdalene at dawn, Peter and John running, the road to Emmaus, Thomas and his doubt, breakfast by the Sea of Galilee and the cloud on Olivet.
Each Gospel tells the morning a little differently. Mark names Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome; Luke adds Joanna; John has Mary Magdalene alone, taking the risen Jesus for the gardener until he says her name and she answers, Rabboni. Matthew alone has the guards at the tomb and the priests paying them to say the body was stolen. In all four the stone is already moved and the tomb is empty.
That evening two disciples, one of them Cleopas, walked to Emmaus with a stranger who explained the scriptures to them as they went, and knew him at supper. Thomas missed the first appearance behind locked doors; a week later, told to put his hand in the wounds, he answered, "My Lord and my God." John 21 moves to Galilee, where seven disciples fished all night, caught 153 fish on his word, and found him cooking breakfast on the shore. Acts puts the Ascension forty days after Easter, on the Mount of Olives, with a cloud taking him from their sight and two men in white promising he would return.
