Adam and Eve Word Search

This Adam and Eve word search covers Genesis 2 to 4: Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, the tree of knowledge of good and evil, the serpent, the forbidden fruit, the fig leaves, the cherubim with the flaming sword, and their sons Cain and Abel.

Genesis names four rivers flowing out of Eden, the Pishon, the Gihon, the Tigris and the Euphrates, which is why so many maps have placed the garden in Mesopotamia. Adam was formed from the dust and Eve from his rib, bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. The serpent, described as more crafty than any other creature, told Eve she would not die but would know good and evil. The fruit is never named; the apple is a later tradition, helped along by the Latin malum, which means both apple and evil.

The curse fell three ways: the serpent on its belly, pain in childbirth for the woman, and thorns, thistles and sweat for the man, who would work the ground until he returned to dust. God made them coats of skins and banished them east of Eden, with cherubim and a flaming sword at the gate. Their sons Cain, a farmer, and Abel, a keeper of sheep, each brought an offering; Cain killed his brother, asked whether he was his brother's keeper, and was marked and sent to the land of Nod. Seth, born afterward, is the ancestor Genesis follows down to Noah.
