The league lists hold the draft, the playoffs and the trophies; the team lists hold every club in the league, and the player lists the names on the back of the jerseys.
The National League of baseball dates from 1876 and the American League from 1901, and the two first met in a World Series in 1903. The NHL followed in 1917, the NFL in 1920 and the NBA in 1946, so the four big North American leagues were all in business within seventy years of each other. The World Cup is the youngest of the five, played since 1930, and the only one decided between countries rather than clubs.
