Stock Market Word Search
This stock market word search covers how shares are bought and sold: a stock and its dividend, the bull and the bear, Wall Street, the Nasdaq and the Dow Jones, a portfolio of mutual fund shares, and the opening bell.
A bull market rises and a bear market falls, and the usual explanation is how each animal attacks: a bull thrusts its horns up, a bear swipes its paws down. The bear may also come from an old London saying about selling the bearskin before catching the bear, which is what a trader does when betting a price will drop.
Charles Dow first published his average on May 26, 1896, using just 12 companies, in trades like sugar, tobacco, cotton oil and gas. Prices once came over a ticker, a machine introduced in 1867 that printed them on narrow paper tape, the tape that gave New York its ticker tape parades. The Nasdaq, started in 1971, was the first market with no trading floor at all.
