Polar Express Word Search
The Polar Express is a picture book by Chris Van Allsburg, published in 1985. It won the Caldecott Medal the next year. A boy in his pajamas is woken on Christmas Eve by a train outside his house, bound for the North Pole.
On the way the children drink hot cocoa, and the train climbs past wolves and mountains to a city full of elves. The film adds more: a conductor who punches each ticket, a song about hot chocolate and a slide down the ice of Glacier Gulch.
The first gift of Christmas is a silver bell from the sleigh, and only those who believe can hear it ring. In the book the boy's sister Sarah hears it too, for a while. In the 2004 film Tom Hanks played several parts, including the conductor, the hobo and Santa himself.
