Nativity Word Search
The Nativity story comes from two Gospels that tell it differently. Luke has the census, the swaddling clothes, the manger and the shepherds in the fields. Matthew has the star, King Herod and the Magi from the east.
Neither Gospel says there were three wise men. The number comes from the three gifts: gold, frankincense and myrrh, two of them tree resins that were burned as incense and used as medicine.
The ox and the donkey are not in either Gospel. They come from a line in Isaiah and from Francis of Assisi, who in 1223 set up the first living nativity scene in a cave in Italy, with real animals and real hay.
A quiet sheet for a Sunday school table, with the answer key for whoever leads the class.
