Entrepreneurship Word Search
This entrepreneurship word search follows a business from the first idea to the launch: the startup and its founder, the risk, the prototype and the patent, the elevator pitch to an investor, and the lemonade stand where many people start.
Entrepreneur is French, from entreprendre, to undertake. The economist Richard Cantillon used it in the 1700s for someone who buys at a known price to sell at an unknown one, carrying the risk in between. Thomas Edison collected 1,093 American patents, but his most copied idea may have been the lab he set up at Menlo Park, New Jersey, in 1876 to turn out inventions on purpose.
Silicon Valley likes to say it was born in a garage. In 1939 Bill Hewlett and David Packard started their company in a one car garage in Palo Alto, California, with $538, and the garage is now a state historical landmark. Madam C. J. Walker built a hair care business in the early 1900s, selling door to door and through agents, and became one of the first self made women millionaires in America.
