This Latter-day Saints word search draws on the history and life of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, Moroni and Nephi, the temple, the ward and the stake, Brigham Young and the pioneers who settled Salt Lake.
Joseph Smith said that in the spring of 1820, in a grove of trees near Palmyra, New York, he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, an event members call the First Vision. He published the Book of Mormon in March 1830, saying he had translated it from gold plates shown to him by the angel Moroni on a hill called Cumorah, and the church was organized on April 6 of that year.
After Joseph Smith was killed in 1844, Brigham Young led most of the church west from Nauvoo, Illinois, and the first pioneer company reached the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847, a date Utah still keeps as Pioneer Day. Between 1856 and 1860 nearly three thousand converts walked the trail pulling handcarts. The Salt Lake Temple took forty years to build and was dedicated in 1893.
