Jesus Word Search
This Jesus word search follows his life and ministry as the four Gospels tell it: born in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth as a carpenter, baptized in the Jordan, calling twelve disciples by Galilee, teaching in parables and turning water into wine at Cana.
Mark's Gospel calls Jesus the carpenter, and the Greek word, tekton, can mean any builder who works in wood or stone. After his baptism he spent forty days in the wilderness, then made his base at Capernaum, a fishing town on the Sea of Galilee where Peter and Andrew had their home. Matthew gathers his teaching in the Sermon on the Mount, and the Gospels record dozens of parables, from the sower to the lost sheep.
The name Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew Yeshua, the same name as Joshua, meaning the Lord saves. He most likely spoke Aramaic, and Mark keeps a few of his Aramaic words, such as talitha koum, "little girl, get up." On a mountain traditionally identified as Tabor, three disciples saw him shine white in the Transfiguration, and in John's account Mary Magdalene was the first to see him risen.
