Volleyball Word Search

William G. Morgan, a YMCA director in Holyoke, Massachusetts, invented the game in 1895 for businessmen who found basketball too rough. He called it Mintonette, borrowing from badminton, and the name volleyball came a year later, after a spectator pointed out that the players volleyed the ball back and forth over the net.
Six players stand on each side and rotate one position clockwise each time their team wins back the serve. The libero, a back-row defender who may not attack the ball above the net, was added to the rules in 1998 and wears a different color so the referees can follow the swaps. Indoor volleyball joined the Olympics at Tokyo in 1964, and beach volleyball followed at Atlanta in 1996.
