Tennis Word Search
Forty tennis words: the racket and the strings, the serve, the ace and the fault, the forehand, backhand and volley, the deuce and the tiebreak, and the four Grand Slam events every player wants to win.
Tennis scoring is famously odd. A score of zero is love, a game tied at 40 is deuce, from the French for two, because a player then needs two points in a row to win it, and a set won six games to none is a bagel. The tiebreak was brought in at the US Open in 1970 by James Van Alen, to stop sets from running on for hours.
The four Grand Slam events are played on three surfaces: hard courts at the Australian Open and the US Open, red clay at Roland Garros in Paris, and grass at Wimbledon, the oldest, first held in 1877. Margaret Court of Australia won 24 Grand Slam singles titles between 1960 and 1973. Hawkeye cameras first settled line challenges at a Grand Slam at the 2006 US Open.
