A large part of this list runs the wrong way. The Lena, Yenisei, Kolyma, Olenyok, Vilyuy, Aldan and Angara all flow north across Siberia to the Arctic, which means the headwaters thaw in spring while the mouths are still frozen solid. The meltwater arrives with nowhere to go and backs up behind ice dams, flooding tens of thousands of square kilometers every year on a schedule.
The Amazon is the other extreme of scale. It carries roughly a fifth of all the fresh water that reaches the ocean from all the rivers on Earth put together, more than the next several combined, and pushes a plume of fresh water far enough out to sea that early sailors refilled their barrels before sighting land.
