This Percy Jackson puzzle holds forty names from Rick Riordan's books: Percy, Annabeth, Grover the satyr, Chiron, Thalia, Nico, Luke, the sword Riptide, Poseidon and Camp Half Blood, where the children of the Greek gods train.
Riordan was a middle school teacher when his son Haley, who has ADHD and dyslexia, asked for bedtime stories about the Greek myths. When the myths ran out, Riordan made up Percy, a boy with the same two diagnoses, who learns they are signs of a demigod: his brain is wired for ancient Greek, and his restlessness is a fighter's reflexes. The Lightning Thief, the first of five books in the series, came out in 2005.
The books move ancient Greece to modern America. Camp Half-Blood sits on Long Island, Mount Olympus floats above the Empire State Building on the six hundredth floor, and the entrance to the Underworld is a Los Angeles recording studio. Riptide looks like a ballpoint pen until Percy uncaps it, and demigods send Iris messages by tossing a golden drachma into a rainbow.
