Adjectives Word Search
This adjectives word search mixes the terms with the words themselves: comparative and superlative, bigger and biggest, best and worst, the order of opinion, size, age and shape, and plain describing words like fluffy.
Adjectives modify nouns, and most of them come in degrees. Short adjectives add -er and -est, as in tall, taller, tallest, while longer ones use more and most. A few are irregular: good, better, best and bad, worse, worst borrow their forms from different old roots, the same way go borrowed went. Demonstrative adjectives such as this and those point at a noun instead of describing it.
Native speakers put stacked adjectives in a fixed order without ever being taught it: opinion, size, age, shape, color, origin, material, purpose. That is why "a lovely little old rectangular green French silver whittling knife" sounds right and any shuffle of it sounds wrong. Mark Forsyth used that exact knife in his 2013 book The Elements of Eloquence, and the example spread widely online in 2016.
