This Twilight puzzle holds forty names from the books and films: Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, Jacob Black, Alice, Jasper, Carlisle, the Volturi, the Quileute wolves of La Push, and the rainy town of Forks.
Stephenie Meyer said the story began with a dream on June 2, 2003, of a girl and a sparkling vampire talking in a meadow. She wrote the scene down that morning, and it became chapter thirteen of Twilight, published in 2005. For the setting she looked for the rainiest place in the United States and found Forks, Washington, on the Olympic Peninsula, where the cloud cover lets her vampires go out in daylight without giving themselves away.
The Quileute are a real tribe whose reservation is at La Push, on the coast near Forks, and Meyer borrowed their story that the first Quileute were made from wolves. The pale hands holding an apple on the cover point to the epigraph from Genesis and the forbidden fruit. The series ran to four novels by 2008, and five films from 2008 to 2012 starred Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Renesmee, Bella's daughter, is named for her two grandmothers, Renee and Esme.
