Olympics Word Search
Forty words from the Olympic Games: the torch and the flame, the five rings, the podium with its gold, silver and bronze, and the events, from the sprint, the relay and the marathon to fencing, archery, curling and the bobsled.
The rings were drawn by Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Games, in 1913. He chose five rings for the five continents taking part, and six colors, counting the white background, because every national flag of the time used at least one of them.
The first modern Olympics opened in Athens in 1896. The torch relay that now carries the flame from Greece to the host city is younger, first run for the Berlin Games of 1936, and an Olympic gold medal has not been solid gold since 1912: it is silver underneath, coated with at least six grams of gold.
