This Lord of the Rings puzzle holds forty names from Middle-earth: Frodo, Samwise, Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gollum, the dark lord Sauron, the Shire and Mordor, and the one ring that ties them together.
J. R. R. Tolkien was a professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford, and he said the languages came first: he had invented Elvish tongues such as Quenya and Sindarin and wanted a world for them to be spoken in. The Lord of the Rings was written as one long novel, a sequel to The Hobbit, and his publisher Allen and Unwin split it into three volumes in 1954 and 1955 because of its length and the cost of paper after the war.
Peter Jackson filmed all three parts at once in New Zealand, and they came out a year apart from 2001 to 2003. The Return of the King won all eleven Oscars it was nominated for, tying the record of Ben-Hur and Titanic. Andy Serkis played Gollum in a motion capture suit, and Tolkien's small details made it to the screen: lembas, the Elvish waybread, the mithril shirt Bilbo gives Frodo, and Sting, the short sword that glows blue when orcs are near.
