Mental Health Word Search
This mental health word search covers how the mind feels and how people get help: mood, stress, anxiety and grief, a counselor or therapy, a support group, resilience and hope, and the green ribbon worn for awareness in May.
The movement began with one patient's book. Clifford Beers spent three years in Connecticut asylums after a breakdown and wrote about the beatings and straitjackets he saw in A Mind That Found Itself, published in 1908. That same year he founded the first society for mental hygiene, and the national group that grew from it, now Mental Health America, started Mental Health Month in May 1949.
The group's symbol is a bell. In 1953 it collected iron chains and shackles that had once held patients in asylums across the country, melted them down at a foundry in Baltimore and cast a 300-pound bell from the metal. Its inscription reads that it was cast to ring out hope for the mentally ill and victory over mental illness.
