Drivers Ed Word Search
This drivers ed word search covers forty words from the course that comes before the license: the learner's permit and the road test, how to merge, yield and parallel park, the blind spot and the mirror, the crosswalk and the roundabout.
Driver education in American high schools is usually traced to Amos Neyhart, a professor at Penn State who taught students at State College High School to drive in 1934. He put a second brake pedal on the passenger side of the car so the teacher could stop it, the same setup driving schools still use. Within a couple of decades driver ed was offered in high schools across the country.
The first stop signs went up in Detroit in 1915. The eight-sided shape was settled in the 1920s and belongs to the stop sign alone, and the signs were yellow until 1954, when paint that would not fade made red practical. Modern roundabouts follow a rule set in Britain in 1966: traffic entering the circle yields to the cars already in it. To hydroplane is to ride up on a thin layer of water, when the tires lose their grip on the road and steering stops working.
