What's New on Word Search Battle: Collections, a Daily Puzzle and Better Printables

Our last update was the guide to printable word search puzzles. Printing still works the same way, but a lot has been added around it. Here is the short version, with links to the full guides.

Printable sheets: answer keys and Battle a Friend

Every level of every topic now has an answer key, and both the sheet and the key open as a PDF that prints at the right size. The three levels follow their own rules: easy keeps to left-to-right and top-to-bottom words for young readers, medium opens every direction with a few words backward, and hard opens everything. Sheets are large print in a square grid, with lines for a name and a date, and the hidden words cross each other about four times as often as before. At the bottom of each sheet, a Battle a Friend box turns the puzzle into a game for two, with one pen color each. The printable guide has it all.

Playing online

The online game uses the same three levels and the same topics. How a game works, how to play against a friend and what changed is in How to Play Word Search Battle Online.

Collections

There are now 200 topics, up from about 140, sorted into 20 collections, such as Christmas, Animal or Science. Each collection has a printable page with every sheet in it, so a whole unit prints from one place. All collections are on one page, with every topic A to Z and a search box. New this season: Winter Holidays, Seasons and Kindergarten.

New holiday topics

Christmas grew from seven puzzles to twelve with Santa, Reindeer, Elf, Nutcracker and Christmas Movies. Also new: Thanksgiving Food, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Lunar New Year, Epiphany, Winter Solstice and Las Posadas.

A word search for every day

The Word Search of the Day pairs each date with an occasion, a puzzle and the story behind the day, and lists the week ahead. Holidays that move land on their real dates each year, Hanukkah included, by the Hebrew calendar. Every month also has a calendar for planning ahead, such as December.

Faster pages

Pages now load from a cache close to the reader, and every puzzle offers the same two buttons wherever it appears: yellow Print and violet Play.
